Angel in the Rubble by Genelle Guzman-McMillan with William CroyleAngel in the Rubble starts with the morning that Genelle Guzman-McMillan woke up in New York on 11th September 2001. A normal day for Genelle, preparing for work, catching the train to the World Trade Centre where she was working for the Port Authority as a temporary employee. Little did she know this was the day her entire life and spiritual being would be altered and never be the same again.

Genelle was the last survivor found alive after the devastating collapse of the Twin Towers. “Angel in the Rubble” takes you into the dark, light and desperate thoughts of Genelle as she is trapped, in completed darkness not knowing if she was going to die in that immobile state or if she would be found.

There are numerous references to GOD and the relationship that Genelle has or doesn’t have with HIM, it is an exploration of her belief system. It was interesting for me to read the thought process of a human in such a dire and desperate situation and the reality one faces. Then the changes in Genelles’ life after being found – how that one day from being perfect in the morning to hell in a couple of hours can transform your mental, spiritual and emotional state. Reading “Angel in the Rubble” has made me profoundly grateful for my healthy life and blessed with my family.
